The leaders of the European Commission and the Council – Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel – signed the withdrawal agreement before the UK`s withdrawal from the EU on 31St January. Agreements with the following countries and trading blocs are expected to enter into force from 1 January 2021, when existing EU trade agreements will no longer apply to the UK. After 31 December 2020, EU trade agreements will no longer apply to the UK. The Council (Article 50) adopted a decision on the signing of the Withdrawal Agreement. It also approved the draft decision on the conclusion of the Withdrawal Agreement and decided to forward the draft decision to the European Parliament for approval.
